Mount Assiniboine Multi-Day Backpacking Expedition

Destination: Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park (O'Brien Meadows Campground)

Dates: August 15 – August 23, 2026

Group Size: 18 Participants

Car teams will drive independently from Vancouver to Canmore, AB. Carpool expense allocation follows our standard guidelines: Carpooling Fee Sharing Rules.

All members travel from Vancouver to Canmore, AB.

• Group A Lodging — Great Rocky Mountain 3BR Condo (Canmore Downtown)

  Guests (13): Brother 3, Charlie, Connie, Ice, Ida, Joy, Karen, Lucy, Maggie, Patrick, Sharon, Sherry, and Stone.
  Note: Check-in starts strictly at 4:00 PM. Please respect this timing.
• Group B Lodging — Willow Rock Campground (Canmore)
  Guests (5): Alison, Clark, George, Jane, and Jeffery.

The team will converge at Mount Assiniboine (O'Brien Meadows Campground) via two entry methods:

• Walk-In Team (5): Charlie, Connie, George, Maggie, Stone
• Fly-In Helicopter Team (13): Alison, Brother 3, Clark, Ice, Ida, Jane, Jeffery, Joy, Karen, Lucy, Patrick, Sharon, Sherry

Note: There is approximately 1–2 km between the Mount Shark parking area and the helicopter staging area.

Full days dedicated to hiking, trail exploration, and day trips around Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, Lake Magog, Niblet/Nublet, and surrounding alpine passes.

• Lake Magog and Sunburst Peak Trail GPX Track

Possible Day Routes (August 18):

• Wonder Pass Viewpoint Trail GPX Track
• Wonder Peak from Assiniboine Lodge GPX Track

*Sub-groups may choose different routes based on personal fitness, daily energy, and objectives.

August 20 (Early Return to Vancouver — 10 People):

10 team members will depart Canmore/Dead Man's Flats on August 20 and drive back to Vancouver in 2 cars:

August 20 – 23 (Extended Rockies Stay — 8 People):

8 team members will remain at Dead Man's Flats for 3 additional nights of day hiking in Yoho & Banff National Parks:

Extended Stay Group: Brother 3, Charlie, Connie, Ida, Karen, Maggie, Patrick, Sherry.
