1. Bear Spray Safety Alert / 防熊喷雾安全提示： Always ensure your bear spray canister is equipped with its dedicated safety clip. Notice the yellow plastic zip tie labeled "Remove after purchase"? That one can be cut before your trip. However, do not cut the white zip tie—it secures the safety clip to the canister and prevents the safety clip from getting accidentally knocked off or lost during transport and packing.

绝对不要携带没有安全夹（Safety Clip）的防熊喷雾。请注意，防熊喷雾上带有“Remove after purchase”字样的黄色扎带可以在购买后剪掉；但千万不要剪掉白色的扎带，它是用来防止安全夹在运输或打包过程中意外脱落丢失的。

2. Leader Safety Awareness on Technical Snow / 领队安全意识与雪地风险： At the end of Snowbird Pass, hiking just 10 feet out onto the packed snow opens up a breathtaking view of the Coleman Glacier and surrounding peaks. However, directly beneath that snow overhang lies a sheer cliff face. One slip means a fatal fall. Even if you feel strong, high-energy, and confident, never forget to evaluate risks for your team and actively warn them of hidden dangers. If teammates insist on venturing onto snow sections, mandate microspikes for traction.

在 Snowbird Pass 的尽头，向积雪上多走约 10 英尺就能一览 Coleman Glacier 冰原全貌及群峰壮景。然而，积雪下方正是绝壁断崖，一旦滑坠后果不堪设想。作为领队，即使自己当时体力与状态极佳，也绝不能疏忽安全警惕，必须时刻提醒队员潜在的致命风险。若队员一定要前往雪地观景，必须要求其穿戴冰爪（microspikes）。

July 31, 2026 — Entering the Mountain / 进山第一天

团队分成两个小分队推进：第一小分队抵达 Kinney Lake 营地扎营；Rob 带领的第二小分队则继续前行 4 公里，前往 Whitehorn 营地。

August 1, 2026 — Meeting at Whitehorn & Ascending to Robson Pass

At Whitehorn campground, we met up with Team 2 and hiked together to Robson Pass campground. It started raining when we reached Whitehorn—making this the most challenging day of the trip!

August 2, 2026 — Mumm Basin Loop & Bear Spray Incident

The weather was cloudy with intermittent drizzle as we completed the 10+ km Mumm Basin loop via Berg Lake Viewpoint and Toboggan Falls. Upon returning to camp, Patrick buckled the bottom compression straps of his main backpack to save space, creating a designated spot to rest a daypack. After dinner and brushing teeth, Patrick returned to the tent pad and noticed Brian's small bag resting in that space. Patrick placed his daypack on top, which accidentally depressed the trigger of the bear spray attached to Brian's pack. Exhausted, Patrick decided to turn in for the night and clean his gear the next morning. Brian chose to clean his pack immediately; however, while doing so, he accidentally rubbed his right eye, causing burning, swelling, and inflammation around his eye and face. Fortunately, Celia, who has a medical background, stepped in to treat his injury, helping to relieve the pain and discomfort. Upon returning to town on August 5, we accompanied Brian to a clinic for an eye exam, and thankfully, his vision was completely uninjured.

当天阴有细雨，全队完成了 10 多公里的 Mumm Basin 环线（途经 Berg Lake Viewpoint 与 Toboggan Falls）。回到营地后，Patrick 扣上了大包底部的收紧带以节省空间，形成了一个可以放置随身小包的地方。晚餐及洗漱完毕后，Patrick 回到帐篷地台，发现那个空间里放着 Brian 的小包。Patrick 将自己的随身包放在 Brian 的小包上方，不慎压到了挂在 Brian 包上的熊喷开关致其意外喷发。由于身心俱疲，Patrick 决定先入睡并于次日清晨清理装备；而 Brian 选择当晚立即清洗。在清理过程中，他无意中揉了右眼，导致右眼及面部周围剧烈灼痛、肿胀发炎。幸亏有医学背景的 Celia 及时帮忙处理伤情，缓解了疼痛与不适。8 月 5 日回到镇上后，我们陪同 Brian 前往诊所就医检查视力，所幸检查结果一切正常。

August 3, 2026 — Conquering Snowbird Pass

Rob's team drove straight back to Vancouver, while Patrick's team stayed one more night in Valemount.

August 6, 2026 — Returning to Vancouver & Saying Goodbye
